The Canadian naked cat - the Sphynx, it "lunar", it Canadian nonhairy, it «a cat of Pharaohs» concerns the most rare and strange cats of the world. It is difficult to imagine something more shocking and simultaneously more harmonious. Except a total absence of a wool which is compensated by abundance of folds, the nature has allocated the Canadian Sphynx strong, a well-muscled body, an original head with huge ears and clever eyes. Magic charm of the Sphynx is boundless. So who they such? Newcomers from other galaxy? Reincarnation ancient egypt cats? And can, shades of mystical companions of Aztecs?
Actually all is much more prosy. Really, throughout all history of mankind from time to time there are mentions of naked cats, but they have not enough relation to modern Sphynxes.
This fantastic cat has appeared as a result of the natural spontaneous mutation subsequently fixed by selectors during systematic breeding.
The beginning of last century is marked by demonstration of the naked cats, named Mexican nonhairy, exhibitions in the USA. The history of these cats, unfortunately, comes to an end in the beginning of 30-s' years of the XX-th century. The genetics of a mutation Mexican naked remains to the unknown person.
Breed occurrence the Canadian Sphynx on time connect with 1966 when in Canada in a province of Ontario absolutely nonhairy cataries has been found in a dung of a usual cat, selector Riad Bava redeems both parents and begins systematic breeding in which process are born both usual, and naked cataries. These lines have not proceeded further 1981. However for the first time serious attempt of creation of breed of naked cats has been undertaken.
1975. In Vadene, the State of Minnesota, in a dung of a simple short-haired cat is born a bald seal, and year after in the same place - a naked cat. These animals become subsequently founders of the most elite lines of breed the Canadian Sphynx in the USA (cataries "L.Sturdust").
1980. Three naked cataries are found in Toronto. Two of which - cataries of Paloma and Punks - have been exported further to Holland. They also have begun the European blood line.
For maintenance of a gene pool of breed both in Europe, and in America of Sphynxes crossed about Devon Reksami closest on type to Sphynxes by breed of cats. The history of breeding breeding of "the Belgian trio» in Russia, unfortunately, has appeared enough short and today it is possible to consider these blood lines rare. The American fellow tribesmen have left in genetic fund of Russia a lot of a breeding material.
Originally breeding of the Canadian Sphynxes in Russia was under construction on close (incest) inbreeding.
In 1995 the pair of Sphynxes from Belgium is again imported, but also this animals could not remain in the history of breeding breeding.
And only in 1996 cat Mad-Max du Bois de Grace, imported of France in cataries «Grand Oray», has brought behind itself blood new to Russia, so, and possibility of leaving from close inbreeding.
Descendants Mad-Max du Bois de Grace for some years become the basic manufacturers of the first descendants of the Canadian Sphynxes in Russia.
From the end 1996 prior to the beginning of 1998 six animals are brought to Russia from Thailand. They do not differ so bright pedigree qualities as Mad-Max du Bois de Grace or Aztec Baringa, but considerably expand a gene pool of breed and promote its breeding in our country.
In the end of 1998 «Grand Oray» are got by cataries two animals in the Belgian cataries "Goriakis". This acquisition has appeared really invaluable. Goriakis Chnoem "has perfectly well undressed" the Russian livestock of "Canadians". The majority of present Sphynxes of Russia are obliged by the modern appearance to this well-known cat.
Cat Rayan De La Magie D'Orient imported from France - rare for a thoroughbred Sphynx colour natural mink with white (Natural Mink with White) - bi-kolor became one more bright acquisition for the Russian breeding fund.
The next years profits also continue to arrive to Russia new animals from the different countries of the world - both worthy, and mediocre, but, hardly, someone from them can leave so bright trace in the history of breeding of the Canadian Sphynxes in Russia, as Mad-Max du Bois de Grace, Aztec Baringa, Goriakis Chnoem, Goriakis N'Habok, Grand Oray Spes Bonn Amur, Rayan De La Madie D'Orient.
In 1999 the majority of the Moscow and regional catarieses of the Canadian Sphynxes has united in structure X-Club - the first and unique monopedigree club of the Canadian Sphynxes in Russia. Today in its structure more than 100 catarieses of the Canadian Sphynxes. From minisections (2-3 êîø¬êè) before large formations, such as the Sphynx-centre.
Sphynx-centre «Grand Oray» - felinologs the breeding centre specialising on breeding of the Canadian Sphynxes, not having analogues in Russia and the CIS countries. The primary goal of the Center it was primary and to this day association of factory owners, enthusiasts of breed for which not so much commercial success, how many systematic and consecutive breeding is important is. The Sphynx-centre urged to co-ordinate work for the purpose of reception of the posterity surpassing in all parametres an initial breeding material.
The aesthetic perception of Sphynxes is based on not ordinary shape of these animals. Sphynxes cats rather stylish and organically entered in modern interiors.
